Samoa International Game Fishing Association commonly known as S.I.G.F.A

SIGFA was established in 1996 by a group of friends and our current Prime Minister. Today, SIGFA has almost 100 active members. From its humble beginnings, SIGFA has grown into a thriving fishing community and club with its headquarters located at the Lady Naomi Wharf in Matautu-Tai.

SIGFA promotes sports tourism and, in particular, game fishing as a competitive and safe sport for both young and old, encouraging water safety, respect of environmental and maritime regulations at all times.

Our mission is the promotion & education of sustainable fishing, the encouragement of conservation of our natural marine resources, to provide a positive and safe learning environment for youth and their families through boating, fishing and other social and recreational events, and to create an on-going interest in fishing that will benefit us now & for future generations to come.

SIGFA is very active in promoting game fishing as a sport and contributes significantly towards sports tourism in Samoa through its’ main Fishing tournament the “SIGFA International”.

The SIGFA International is a “boutique style” international competition which provides an environment which is very unique to Samoa...samoan hospitality, friendship, fun, sun and most importantly great fishing and great prizes. The formula has not changed since 1996 and the significant increase in competitors, supporters and sponsors over the years has seen many competitors from around the world and even freight their boats from New Zealand.

SIGFA also hosts monthly club competitions and runs a kid’s dinghy tournament encouraging our children in this great sport. Some of our Club Members run Charters for visitors who want to game fish in Samoa.

SIGFA is proud to continue promoting Game Fishing in Samoa and to encourage water safety.
